Dry needling is a focused technique that uses fine, sterile needles to target sensitive or tight areas within the muscles.

How Dry Needling Works
Dry needling involves inserting very fine needles into specific areas of muscle or soft tissue, often around tight or sensitive points.
The aim is to help calm irritated areas, reduce muscle guarding and support improved movement. It does not involve injecting any substance into the body.
Dry needling is different from acupuncture, although both use fine needles. In our setting, dry needling is used from a musculoskeletal perspective and may form part of a broader care plan.
Dry needling may be used to support management of concerns such as:
Muscle tightness
Neck and shoulder tension
Back discomfort
Headache-related muscle tension
Hip or glute tightness
Sports-related muscle soreness
Restricted movement
Overworked or sensitive soft tissue areas
Your practitioner will assess whether dry needling is appropriate for your individual presentation.
Your appointment will begin with a discussion and assessment to understand your symptoms, movement and goals.
If dry needling is suitable, your practitioner will explain the process and apply the needles to targeted areas. You may feel a small prick, pressure, twitch response or a deep ache during treatment.
Some people feel immediate relief, while others may feel temporary soreness afterwards, similar to post-exercise muscle soreness.
Your practitioner may also recommend movement, stretching, strengthening or recovery strategies to support longer-term progress.
Dry needling is not a standalone fix. At EIRAFORMA, we use it where appropriate as part of a broader approach to helping you move better, recover effectively and build confidence in your body.
It may be combined with chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy, exercise guidance or other recovery strategies depending on your needs.
